Wedding Photography in Hereford
30 May, 2008
Louise and David got married on May 10th on a scorching hot day! We started the morning at home with Louise and her bridesmaids. She was so calm and ready in loads of time so we had time for some lovely portraits as well as capturing all the bustle of preparations.

The ceremony was held at St Mary’s Church, Staunton-on-Wye, Herefordshire. It’s a stunning church on top of a hill with spectacular countryside all around.

Even when we can only take photos from the back of the church, it’s always possible to get some lovely images of the important moments. Plus there are those priceless captures you’d never get from up front!

We love this quick capture of Louise’s dad during the signing of the register!

Personally I love this next one – it’s The Look they’re sharing. A wedding day is so full of excitement and laughter but I also want to capture these quiet moments of love and contentment and the feeling that what they’ve done is right. This is what it’s really all about.

What did I tell you about stunning scenery?! I’m so glad we had the weather for it. It was almost TOO hot, but after the amount of rain we had all through last year’s wedding season I will never complain of the heat again!

Then it was off to the ultra modern Left Bank Village in the centre of Hereford. It was the perfect venue for such a hot day, with shady terraces looking out on the river.

Look at this stunning hand painted cake!!

Thanks again you two for letting us share your day!

Business is blooming!
19 May, 2008

We have been running Whole Picture for five years now and have built up slowly, trying to devote the necessary time without things getting too risky – a very difficult balance to strike while building up your own company! Two years ago I went part time to help us keep up with the increasing demand for our services, and last week I quit the ‘day job’ completely! This is quite a momentous step for us, which we’ve pondered a long time before taking the plunge.
So, today is our first day entirely running our own business! We’ve even talked excitedly about the office hours we will keep and whether to have ‘dress-down Fridays’! But we hope now to get a better balance between caring for our fantastic clients that we love so much, and finding space for some of the other things we remember loving once upon a time! Hiking, holidays, the odd night in front of the tv…. I even used to clean the house way back when.
Thanks to my colleagues for a great send-off. Along with the flowers I was given two original watercolours by a local artist, of Aberaeron, the beautiful harbour town where I was working.
Wedding Photography with Lisa and Hefin
9 May, 2008
Last Saturday’s wedding was quite possibly my very favourite EVER!! Lisa and Hefin are such lovely people and were so relaxed on the day that they made it easy for us. I immediately fell in love with Lisa’s 1950s inspired dress and she was an absolute natural in front of the camera.
We started the day with Lisa’s family, whose home opens out straight onto the Teifi Estuary – what more could you ask for perfect picture taking!

Lisa makes me think of a swan here – full of grace and confidence!

Then we caught up with Hefin and the boys at the pub, before going on to St Thomas’s church in St Dogmaels.

Hefin with his best man Gareth demonstrating the personality that makes him such a great children’s television presenter on S4C. Gareth used to play rugby for Wales, which you would perhaps not guess from this photo! At this point we should say thank you to our previous clients Awena and Cefin for recommending us to their friends. Gareth was also best man at Awena and Cefin’s wedding!

The forecast rain never happened so although it was very windy we were able to take photos in the abbey ruins next door to the church. Lisa was up for anything, climbing onto the walls in her high heels without a second thought!

Then it was off to Rhosygilwen Mansion for the reception. It was our first time here for a few years and it’s gorgeous now both inside and out! The natural light in here was fantastic! They only hold a very limited number of weddings here, but it’s a great choice so get in quick!

While the guests walked over to the banqueting hall, Lisa was driven round looking like a celebrity!

Finally, I wanted to mention the very moving speech by Lisa’s father Dai. Three years ago he was diagnosed with an aneurism; in the ‘extra’ three years he has been blessed with, two grandchildren have been born and his second daughter married. Instead of wedding favours, Lisa and Hefin had chosen to make a donation to the British Heart Foundation and gave each guest a tiny red pin to signify it. Dai beautifully personalised this donation by suggesting that perhaps it would allow another man like him to look his grandchildren in the eyes and walk his daughter down the aisle.

Thanks again to Lisa and Hefin and your wonderful families for letting us share your amazing day.
