11 Years On
23 July, 2008
Reminiscing… My Dad got me into photography when I was a kid. I’d climb the rickety stepladder to the attic and help him process prints in the dark room.
He made photo montages like this one, with all my family on an inch high train, 25 years before Photoshop was created. For my 14th birthday I was given an Olympus OM10 and took my own photos. Then dabbled with video, before embarking on a Degree in Media. Eventually I was teaching Film and Photography.
In 1997 an ex-housemate, Tim, asked if I’d take some informal shots at his wedding to the lovely Claire. I took a load of black and white shots, and they really liked them. (In fact even now the shot at the top of our web page is the back of Tim & Claire’s heads.)

That was 11 years ago – since then Naomi & I have been fortunate to make a career of recording many other people’s weddings. We consider this no small privilege. Last weekend Tim & Claire came to visit us with their gorgeous family. It was great to get together, reminisce, and think of all those people who help shape our lives. Thanks Dad. Thank you Tim & Claire.

Photos from Helen & John’s wedding at Castell Malgwyn

Fun, fun, FUN! That’s what we love about our clients – they’re always up for a laugh. Willing to relax and enjoy themselves on their day. And none more so than Helen and John, two vets working local to us.

Helen’s friends and relatives from Ireland shared stories of being lost on the Preseli Mountains most of the night, whilst all and sundry got ready at the Hotel. Then it was off to Mount Zion Church in Cardigan to meet up with more relatives being served tea and cakes in the recess.

Naomi spotted this fortuitous sign across the road.

Like most Dads, Helen’s found the occasion moving.

I thought the twin doors of the church looked just like an old fashioned weather house – just wish we had a brolley for John! Then it was on to the Teifi Estuary at St Dogmaels for a photo session with just the bride and groom.

A family were crabbing so Helen and John asked if they could have a go. As luck would have it the crustaceans were biting, although a bit more than Helen liked!

Helen was insistent she wanted an ice cream, so we stopped in at Poppit sands.
John wrote what started out looking like a romantic message in the sand.

Back at Castell Malgwyn it was a glorious day; the group photos quickly dealt with, everyone relaxed in the lovely gardens.

Special thanks to Helen and John for having us along on your fab day – you’re a great couple!

Wedding photography at Craig-y-Nos Castle
10 July, 2008
Bernadette and William got married on Friday 20th June. I started the day with Bernie while Vince was with Will and the boys in different parts of the endless rambling old castle.

Bernie’s grandfather proudly walked her down the aisle.

Ceremonies at Craig-y-Nos take place on the stage of the famous Madame Patti Theatre. It’s a great opportunity for taking a quick group photograph if you’re not sure the weather is going to hold!

In the end though the weather was kind and we even had time to go down into the park behind the castle for some photos with just Bernie and Will. Craig-y-Nos is on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Mid Wales and is surrounded by stunning scenery.

Aren’t they gorgeous?! These beaming smiles didn’t stop all day! Thanks to both of you for letting us share your lovely day.
