Abi & Julian – wedding photography at Caerphilly Castle
24 August, 2009
Apparently the three most stressful things in life are getting married, moving home, and starting a new job. Well Abi and Jules are doing all three in one week. As you can clearly see from this picture, they are going to be police officers in Australia!!!

They got married on Friday and are leaving for Australia TOMORROW so we wanted to get a few pictures up for them before they go.

They had a fab day at Caerphilly Castle, always an atmospheric venue.

No confetti is allowed at the Castle but Abi and Julian’s guests didn’t hold back with the bubbles!

I love brides who will do whatever it takes to get the shot! Wedding shoes and crumbly castle ruins – not a problem!!

We went back outside after dinner to make the most of the beautiful evening light.

Abi and Jules, we wish you loads of luck and happiness in your new life in Australia. All the pictures will be up on line in the next couple of weeks – we will let you know! Safe travels!!
Nicola and John Picton Castle

“Think Pink“
Nicola did for her wedding – and it looked fab!

Bouquets and shoes

Car & Cravats (The groomsmen arrived in the back of a tractor)

Bridesmaid dresses

The “Bridesmaids on Tour” wagon

Even wellies & petticoat -

And the grounds of Picton Castle are full of great locations for some lovely relaxed shots.

And how about this for a novel idea – get some willing guests to serve the yorkshire puddings, rewarding them afterwards with a cigar!

We had a lovely time, thanks to the hospitality of Nicola & John and their families. All their photos are now available on our wedding photography web site.
Kate and Phil got married on 30th July in the picturesque little town of Ross-on-Wye. Their wedding was full of great personal touches and we thought we’d share some of their fabulous ideas!

When the bride wears a 50s roseprint dress and shoes like these, you know it’s going to be a unique wedding!!

And Phil was not to be outdone on the funkiness front!

We stopped on the way to the reception at the Chase Hotel for some alone time with the bride and groom. I particularly love this image below – it really sums up the laid back nature of this couple!

There was entertainment provided for the children…

…and for the grown-ups! Giant Jenga and giant Connect-4.

The Wedding Cake was a stunning and delicious cheese tower, complete with suitably attired toppers!

And the sweet-toothed guests were amply catered for with a buffet of every kind of pink sweet you can think of!

Kate and Phil took the option of having us stay on to photograph their evening celebrations. A wonderful Johnny Cash tribute band certainly got everyone moving.

All the photos are now available on our website – enter the password harris3007 on the clients page.
Thanks Kate and Phil for having us at your fantastic day!
What to do if it rains on your wedding day
13 August, 2009
Well, get out the white umbrellas, relax and enjoy it. It doesn’t matter one bit. But if afterwards you feel there were photos you had your heart set on and missed out on, you could consider taking more photos on another day!
Lisa and Gary’s post-wedding photo session
We had an absolutely fabulous ‘Take Two’ session with Lisa and Gary recently at Mwnt. Their wedding day was very wet and although on the day it did nothing to dampen their spirits, we all wanted to have another go at capturing them in their finery in their gorgeous wedding location.

Beyond that though, the post-wedding shoot is about getting all sorts of pictures that aren’t possible on the wedding day. Like climbing all the way to the top of the hill…

…and posing on the very top rock!

Or going down the cliffs…

…on to the beach…

…and into the water!

Lisa is planning to cut off her dress at the knee and keep it as a party dress so this was a great opportunity to use it as it is one more time – with no holds barred!! A session like this is a fantastic way to really ENJOY being in your wedding dress, without having to worry about it needing to stay clean for the rest of the wedding.

This session also meant we could make use of some lovely sunset light, which wouldn’t have been possible on the wedding day.

Our premium wedding package includes a pre- or post-wedding shoot. If your wedding was a while ago (even if we were not your photographers!) and you fancy a session like this then please get in touch! If you’re looking for something creative to do for your anniversary, or you’d like to celebrate fitting back into your dress after having a baby, or you’d just like to spend more time getting fab photos than there was time for on your wedding day then we’d love to hear from you! Sessions are £300, and include all your images on disc.

All the photos from this session are viewable on the clients section of our wedding photography website – type in morris0606
