We have been looking forward to Emma and Andrew’s wedding all year, because we LOVE people who are brave enough to do things differently.
The marriage ceremony took place at Blaenconin Chapel in Llandissilio, a gorgeous big chapel where we particularly liked the funky wooden siding! As you’ll see below, Andrew and Emma had worked incredibly hard to prepare for this wedding and Andrew was very happy and relaxed now that the day had finally come.
Both of Emma’s bridesmaids flew home all the way from Australia for the wedding. They did a good job of pretending not to be cold here!!
Emma and Andrew’s well-loved camper van also took pride of place in the wedding day.
We stopped at Llanhawden Castle after the ceremony and made good use of the intermittent sun.
I should also mention Emma’s fabulous dress, which she and her aunt designed and made together every Sunday over the last several months. Emma told me what a wonderful experience that had been. And what a great way to truly personalise your wedding! There was absolutely nothing ‘off-the-peg’ about these two!!
Now we get to the really good bit!! Emma wanted a truly personal and meaningful venue for the wedding, and after looking at all the local castles and hotels decided instead to go for the village hall. That’s right, that rundown freezing cold hall we’ve all got one of down the road from us. Instead of spending thousands hiring a venue with no personal connections, Emma and her family decided on a plan that not only gave them a characterful and unusual wedding venue but gave a long-lasting gift back to the community they love. They completely redecorated the hall (there are three coats of varnish on that floor!) and then went with a village summer fete/tea party theme for the reception. I think they may even have made all those miles of bunting themselves.
Emma collected masses of vintage china from charity shops and auctions and they served a cream tea!
All around the hall were lots of traditional fete games like hoopla and ‘guess the number of sweets in the jar’ as well as other more modern favourites! As photographers we love things like this, because it makes for lots of lively interactions between guests.
Overall it was a wonderful and memorable day which we felt privileged to share. Emma and Andrew and their families made us feel like friends, and we wish them every happiness for their future. All their photos can now be viewed and ordered at our clients wedding photo gallery

Beautiful original wedding! I saw the Jenga game on Pinterest and just wanted to let everybody know the least expensive place I could find to buy this game was Ebay and Etsy. If you search Giant Huge Jenga it will show up. I think it was $50-$55. We love playing this game at tailgate parties and we add drinking rules to each block to make the game more exciting for adults. Looks like giant Jenga was a huge hit at your wedding.
