Weddings from Whole Picture

Bethany and Lewis in snowy Shropshire

Remember that random sudden heavy snow at the end of March? You might not, because out here in west Wales we didn’t get any of it!! But we braved the travel mess of the Midlands to get to the wedding of our longtime friend Bethany and her very lucky man Lewis. 🙂

We started at Mum’s house, where Bethany’s sisters, nieces and other bridesmaids were gathered, doing each other’s hair and make-up while practising a song for the ceremony. It was so lovely! A really great atmosphere to start off such a happy day.

Meanwhile there was some serious snow removal happening at the church so that people would even be able to park their cars! It paid off though, as the Bishop who was joining in this effort himself was able to use ‘shovelling snow while it’s still snowing’ as a good analogy for creating a successful marriage in his address later!!

Marriage ceremonies in the LDS Church usually don’t allow any ceremony photography at all, but in this case we were given permission to peak in through the doors a bit! We are always respectful of every kind of marriage ceremony and liaise well with the officiators over our coverage. Being religious ourselves we understand the fine balance to be struck between maintaining the sanctity of a religious service while knowing how precious your photos of it will be! There is such a range of emotions on show.

I love the shot below…in the midst of a formal group photo, Lewis and Beth are completely oblivious to anything but each other. 🙂

These are all the siblings of the two of them…all proper for the relatives’ mantlepieces, and then their real selves!!

But soon, as much fun as everyone was having, it was time to brave the weather and move on!

We were snatching couple shots of the two of them at every possible opportunity, because there was no knowing what the weather would do to our plans!! Luckily these two were constantly up for a quick smooch in a quiet corner. 😀

I do love a chief bridesmaid speech…no reason the groom should have to take all the embarrassment!

The cake was made by a friend, and it was a complete surprise to the couple to discover a multi-coloured inside to it. 🙂

And then, out we went. These two were just superb in braving the weather – Beth said “it’s my wedding day, I’m having my pictures taken!!” then grabbed wellies, a handy older brother to hold coats and umbrellas, and off we went! Whilst there’s always the option of a Take Two shoot, we LOVE that attitude!! Your wedding day, like your marriage, definitely has to have an element of taking things as they come. And besides, if you’re lucky enough to get unique weather on your wedding day let’s celebrate it!
